Coastal Redwoods in the Mist

Our summer family vacation this year was a road trip up the Northern California & Oregon coast. The beaches, waterfalls, lighthouses, rock formations and hikes we experienced were all wonderful… but the memory that stands apart from the rest is the time we spent in near-complete silence and solitude in the Lady Bird Johnson Redwood Grove in Humboldt County, CA.
That morning we had awakened on got on the road much earlier than usual and once we arrived we were so glad we did. Shrouded in fog, sounds dampened by the mist, we walked in unimaginable quiet among these towering giants. The morning light filtering through the fog and the branches made for an utterly magical experience.
